FG Restates Commitment to Ending Violence against Children in Nigeria

In a strategic move to put an end to child labour and all forms of abuse against children in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has held a strategic dialogue with various key government ministries and International Partners, Civil Society Organizations and Child Right Advocates.The Meeting focus on reviewing progress, strengthening Coordination and aligning efforts under the National Planning of Action towards ending violence against Children in Nigeria.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imma Suleiman, empathized the essence of data driven intervention, data driven campaigns and the need to prosecute perpetrators of child abuse in the country.
Key ministries in attendance include ministries of labour and productivity, health, Justice, Interior and Information. They all pledged intervention in their respective mandate in enforcing child protection law and integrate child welfare services in schools among others. Participants agreed on the course of action to accelerate compliance across the country.
